A lavatory lovestory...

A lonely lavatory attendant finds a bouquet of flowers in her tip jar. From whom could it be? Well, you can find out yourself... Love is always sudden.

No one surprises if love springs up at work even though the place of the work is unexpected.

This Russian made animation had been nominated for the Oscar in the categorie for the Best Animated Short Film.
It reached the second place, but the animation is worth viewing, enjoy:

Earth from above by Yann Arthus-Bertrand

French photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand is perhaps the best known aerial photographer on this planet. He has sold more than 3 million copies worldwide of his seminal photo essay 'Earth From Above'. That project is a decade-spanning attempt to photograph all the vistas and panoramas of the planet from the sky, whether by helicopter, plane, hot air balloon, or anything else that can fly. Yann seeks to uncover the story behind the landscape, not just creating a pretty picture. His subjects are not always photogenic and everywhere in his work is the encroaching hand of humanity and its enterprise.

Also interesting is on of his newest projects called '6 Billion Others'. In that project he is focusing more closely on the people who live on this planet rather then the landscapes.

Yann has made a beatiful film too called 'Home'. Home is like a hymn for the planet, an ode to the planet's beauty and its delicate harmony. It's worth watching it too. You can visit the site dedicated to this film here and you can watch the full version (1 hour and 33 minutes) of Home here (on youtube). 100% recommended.
Here's the trailer/preview of Home:

Mr. Richard Lacayo has described Yann as "an aesthete with the soul of a moralist. He uses the beauty of the world to beguile you into a photograph in which a larger lesson awaits. His lesson is about the planet in jeopardy." And I completely agree with that description. What do you think?

Here are some great photos by Yann from 'Earth from above':

I wish you all a happy weekend!

Dedicated to Africa's animal life by Nick Brandt

The photographer Nick Brandt (London) studied Film and Painting at St. Martins School of Art. He started photographing in December 2000 in East Africa, beginning the body of work that is his signature subject matter and style. He now is devoted full time to fine art photography.

Nick has made a marvellous series of photos of the amazing African animals in their native amazing surroundings.
Each of his photos is a masterpiece on it's own. Watching the photos is like taking a bath in African atmospheres ready to touch and observe the beauty of fascinating animals.

A real tribute to the land of our ancestors where life once began, or didn't begin life there?

Masquerade by Aziz Kocanaogullari

A beautiful short film called 'Masquerade' as part of the thesis by the student Aziz Kocanaogullari. The film is about the real life behind our daily masks. It's a bit of a sad video, but we all can recognize ourselves in this animation at moments we aren't so happy like we pretend to be.

The design and rendering are very inspired by the game 'Little Big Planet', but this does not detract from the beautiful story.
The song 'Jet Sex' is that of the Belgian group Ghinzu.

Have a great weekend!

Shadows of ourselves? by Katie Sokol

'Do you ever wonder if your shadow is playing tricks on you behind your back? I mean, it could be, right? It's always walking behind you so you never know what's going on back there!'

A nice, funny and most of all creative idea and execution by the artist Katie Sokol a freelance photographer from Brooklyn.
What's the idea? Well, cutting human forms in black paper and pasting them on walls and sidewalks of the city of Brooklyn (USA).
This creates and effect as if at the exact time that the picture has been taken there's also a corresponding shade of another person. One's shadow playing tricks behind the back.

La mujer semilla (The seed woman) by Gloria Lizano Lopez

'It all starts with a seed, an internal generator of life.'

The one who give care takes care of seeds, keeps, loves and protects the seed, containing the essence of all life. This essence has inspired the Spanish artist Gloria Lizano Lopez to create some breathtaking artworks (drawings and paintings) that are so pure and so significant to show us life, growth, birth and the miracle of life in such an impressive way.

Here are some nice quote parts from the original history (translated from Spanish):

'Men and women are seed and create love and emotions, feelings in the form of eyes in the sky expressing femininity and sexuality.'

'A woman walks safe and happy, singing, and their seeds germinate and flourish along with the collectors who sing the melody composed by the flute, which makes the seeds germinate and flourish. Her world is complete. A new seed. A new life. It changes your body, bends, curves, it becomes a perfect circle. '

Here are some of Gloria Lizano Lopez's works (but for more I recommend you to visit her blog):

Unfortunately there's little known about her and her work, I hope that someday she publishes her biography so we can know more about this very interesting and talented artist.
